New Mexico Speaks - Generation JusticeGeneration Justice

As the next step in our #NMspeaksCrisis campaign – #NMspeaksCrisis organizations held a Behavioral Health Town Hall, hosted by New Mexico PBS. Throughout the night, policymakers, community members, and advocates shared their stories and asked questions. Panelists included Senator Jerry Ortiz y Pino, Bernalillo County Commissioner Maggie Hart-Stebbins, and Patricia Tucker Esq. and Sharon Pino Esq. of the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office.

If you couldn’t make it out to our Town Hall, no worries! We recap the conversation and share the statements by Senator Martin Heinrich, Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham, and Congressman Ben Ray Lujan on our podcast.

Over the past year, we’ve listened to our community, conducted 60 interviews, produced 24 videos on the behavioral health crisis in New Mexico, and hosted a petition with nearly 2,300 signatures.

We wanted to let legislators know we are in crisis, we can’t afford budget cuts to behavioral health, and that there is a high demand for comprehensive, integrated and culturally appropriate behavioral health services in New Mexico.

Thank you for following and participating in the campaign. We are humbled and so grateful that we were collectively able to stand together for our families and community members who can not address this crisis by themselves. Of course, the work of ensuring New Mexico has the best behavioral health system is not over. We are committed to telling the stories of our community, just like we did throughout the #NMspeaksCrisis campaign. But, we need your support.
