What is a Hero? – Generation Justice

What is a hero? A hero is someone who inspires and who does good. A hero is someone you look up to and who you want to be most like. A hero can be a celebrity, a close friend, or a family member. I believe that a hero can also be considered an idol or a role model because you look up to them. I think a true hero is one that tries to better the community but is not in it for any reason. They are happy when people look up to them and want to get those people involved. Heroes are also humbled and grateful for all they have in life.

Some of my heroes are people I am really close such as my mom who is very dedicated to family and is a very hard worker. She inspires me to push on everyday. My sister is a hero to me because she is so full of life and does many things for many people. My grandparents inspire me to keep on trying and to never stop. My attorneys make me want to serve other people and make their lives better. My teachers inspire me to not only learn but also teach. My many family members show me love and have taught me how to love other people.

Recently my cousin Santana graduated from high school and she has inspired me to keep on going and to never give up.  Her on-going commitment to people with disabilities has shown me the power of caring for other people and has given me the strength to keep pushing forward in my battle of helping people with disabilities.

The great people at Youth Radio have taught me so much including how precious life is and how important it is for people from all kinds of different backgrounds and lifestyles to come together to change the world for the better.

It is my belief that all these qualities make a hero and we all have heroes in our life for many reasons famous or not, small or big. What is your definition of a hero?
