USSF – Generation Justice

The United States Social Forum was a once in a lifetime experience. I learned many things like how everyone is fighting for equal rights and standing in solidarity with each other.

The march in Detroit was one thing very important tome and others. It was important to me because I could really feel how everyone else felt. Everyone is fighting for equal rights and rights that are important to them. There were about sixteen thousand people in the march and we marched for maybe two miles. This march is one thing I will never forget. In the march, there was a moment I felt was really touching, that moment was when a group of Palestinian people started to chant “Viva Viva Palestina” “Long Live Palestine”. This was a powerful moment because I am Palestinian and this tiny group of people made hundreds of people chants those words made me feel like there are people out there who are fighting to end the war in Palestine and there are people who are trying to make peace not only in Palestine, but the whole world.

One thing I noticed, there are so MANY issues in the United States that the people are trying to fix. The United States needs change but the only way to get there is to try and stand up together in solidarity because the people are the ones who need to make that change and the only way to get there is if the people unite. “The people, united, we’ll never be defeated!”
